Hindsight Bias is a culmination of creative struggle, exhaustive uncertainty, and deeply personal narratives funneled into nine songs. It encapsulates the last three years of my life, focusing on grappling with sudden loss and attempting to create hope within myself for the future. It is without a doubt the most vulnerable set of songs I have ever written.

It started in March 2020 when the spread of the COVID pandemic ruptured countless industries, including my own creative industry working in film and television. For ten years I strived to succeed as a sound editor in Toronto, working diligently to build my career in a creative field that I love. When the film industry halted productions, I was immediately considered “non-essential” as a creative worker, and like so many others, my entire world shattered around me.

Through the initial panic and attempting to balance this new normal I was living in, I found myself reverting to past comforts that gave me joy at different times in my life. One of those comforts was creating music and writing songs again. I reached down, drew from my many influences, and started writing like I had never written in the past. And through the next several months I found these songs, or maybe they found me.

The only agenda I truly have with making Hindsight Bias is to create something beautiful and meaningful out of one of the most difficult seasons of my life. I hope these songs find you well.
